Sanitation And Recycling Equipment Operator
The City of Sheridan is actively recruiting a positive and honest team player with strong customer service skills to fill the position of Sanitation and Recycling Equipment Operator. This position is responsible for performing equipment operation duties in the collection of trash and recyclables. The ideal candidate will have the ability to operate a variety of large trucks and heavy equipment, and possess or be able to obtain a Wyoming Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Supervisory Controls :
The Sanitation and Recycling Supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
Guidelines :
Guidelines include city codes and the City of Sheridan Employee Handbook. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.
Complexity / Scope of Work :
The work consists of related technical duties. Inclement weather conditions contribute to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to participate in the waste collection operations of the city. Successful performance helps ensure the efficient management of trash and recyclables.
Physical Demands / Work Environment :
The work is typically performed while intermittently standing, stooping, bending, crouching, or walking. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and must distinguish between shades of color. The work is typically performed outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggle, or gloves.
Minimum Qualifications :
Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship / internship or having had a similar position for five or more years. Possession of a valid commercial driver's class B license issued by the State of Wyoming for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Possession of Hazardous Waste Screening and Landfill Operator Certification.
