Retail Supervisor
Location : East Rutherford, NJ
Type : Contract
Compensation : $28.00 hourly
Contractor Work Model : Onsite
Hours : Must be flexible during store hours including weekend hours
Duties and Responsibilities :
Serve as the on-site Store Supervisor, leading day-to-day operations.
Drive sales floor standards, shift leadership, customer experience, and cash-handling oversight.
Supervise and support 6-10 staff per shift.
Monitor customer service standards and provide guidance when needed.
Assist with staff scheduling and task delegation.
Responsible for ensuring that employees take all required meal and rest breaks and that each break is properly recorded on the employee timecard in accordance with New Jersey labor laws.
Handle customer issues, including complaints, returns, exchanges, voids, and discounts in accordance with store policy.
Communicate with the clients HQ for daily reports and updates.
Ensure inventory accuracy and product display maintenance.
Ensure compliance with store rules and safety protocols.
Oversee cash handling and register operations, taking full responsibility for the accuracy, security, and integrity of all transactions. This is a critical duty essential to store operations and financial accountability. Ensure all staff follow cash handling procedures.
Complete opening and closing checklists and ensure store readiness.
Produce a short daily shift report that covers sales activity, staffing, and any incidents.
Serve as the primary onsite point of contact.
Coordinate with mall security for incidents, crowd control, or emergencies when needed.
Support crowd control and line management during peak times and events.
Qualifications :
Previous retail supervisory or managerial experience.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
POS experience preferred.
Availability to work during store business hours, including weekends, is required.
Japanese language skills are a plus.
