LHH is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Property Accountant / Accounting Specialist to manage the accounting functions for a diverse real estate portfolio. You will work closely with the property management team, oversee accounting processes for multiple entities, support financial reporting, and help maintain solid operational and financial controls. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity, offering the chance to transition into a full-time, permanent role with a stable and reputable organization.
Key Responsibilities
Receive, code, and process invoices for payment
Collect rent and bill for Common Area Maintenance (CAM) charges
Review and administer lease agreements and lease-related accounting
Occasionally work with contractors on tenant improvements and oversee related work from the accounting side
Assist in preparing financial statements and materials for board meetings
Review books, post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and close books before sending to external accountants for tax return preparation
Support and manage investment-related accounting tasks, including capital calls
Administer retiree benefits for legacy employees
Oversee charitable foundation accounting and compliance
Perform errands as needed (bank, post office, etc.) — mileage reimbursement provided
Ideal Candidate Profile
Proven ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
Self-starter with strong initiative, able to multitask and prioritize independently
Proficient in QuickBooks Desktop, Excel, Word, and Outlook
Professional, mature, stable, and strong communicator
Comfortable handling full-cycle accounting for multiple entities from start to finish
Property accounting experience is a plus
Degree preferred but not required
Compensation
Contract Pay Range : $23.00 – $26.00 per hour (based on experience)
Permanent Salary Range : $50,000 – $60,000 annually upon conversion
