About Hooligan

Hooligan is a 50-seat Midwestern seafood bar with an irreverent edge. We serve oysters, seafood, and wine with a focus on precision and energy. We aim to build experiences that feel alive, rooted in craft, driven by community, and charged with the rhythm of good food and good people.

Position Overview

As a FOH Team Member, you are the heart of hospitality at Hooligan. You’ll guide guests through the menu, share the stories behind our seafood and wines, and create a seamless, enjoyable dining experience. The role is collaborative, chefs may drop plates, servers may pour wine, with everyone working together to deliver service that is casual, precise, and never pretentious.

Reports to : General Manager

Collaborates with : Executive Chef, Sous Chef, Front-of-House Team

Classification : Hourly + Service Charge Distribution

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Hooligan’s Steps of Service :
  • Warm greeting & seating.
  • Present menus / check-cards and explain ordering flow.
  • Guide guests through oyster selections, seafood features, and wine pairings.
  • Collect and confirm orders, pace dishes thoughtfully.
  • Serve food and drinks with concise, informed descriptions.
  • Conduct timely check-backs and anticipate guest needs.
  • Perform confident wine service (BTG pours, BTB presentation).
  • Offer dessert and after-dinner drinks.
  • Present check promptly, thank guests sincerely, and invite them back.
  • Collaborate with the team : run food, drop oysters, pour wine, assist expo as needed.
  • Maintain professional appearance and conduct : arrive prepared, polished, and on time.
  • Learn and communicate daily wine notes, oyster features, and menu updates.
  • Handle guest concerns with care : listen, acknowledge, resolve, and report.
  • Complete sidework : reset communal tables, polish glassware, restock, and clean stations.

Qualifications

  • Prior restaurant experience preferred, ideally in full-service or wine-focused environments.
  • Strong communication and guest engagement skills.
  • Interest in seafood, wine, and storytelling around food.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly in a cross-trained team.
  • Must be detail-oriented, punctual, and professional in appearance.

  • Hourly wage + service charge pool.
