Senior Staff Software Engineer

Join Intuit's Platform & Developer Experience (PDX) group as a Senior Staff Software Engineer focused on developing and scaling the API Gateway platform that powers billions of transactions across Intuit's ecosystem. Intuit's API Gateway is a foundational component of our cloud-native architecture, enabling seamless, secure, and scalable API interactions across microservices. This team is reinventing how APIs are exposed, governed, and consumed across product teams, and contributes back to open source and industry innovation.

What you'll bring

• 10+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Experience building and scaling API Gateway platforms or reverse proxy solutions (e.g., Envoy, NGINX, Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway).
• Deep understanding of Layer 4 / 7 networking and traffic management concepts (rate limiting, circuit breaking, retries, load balancing).
• Strong experience with Kubernetes, service mesh technologies, and microservices architectures.
• Proficient in Go, Java, or C++, and experience developing high-performance distributed systems.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Experience with API security standards like OAuth2, mTLS, OpenID Connect, and JWT.
• Demonstrated success influencing engineering direction and contributing to open source.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
• BS / MS in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.

How you will lead

Intuit provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay-for-performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is : Bay Area California $214,000.00 - 289,500.00; Southern California $201,000.00 - 272,000.00. This position will be eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards and benefits, in accordance with our applicable plans and programs. Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location. To drive ongoing pay equity for employees, Intuit conducts regular comparisons across categories of ethnicity and gender.
