Position Overview

The Senior Director of Business Development is responsible for development and implementation of the sales strategy, growing NovaSource’s Power Plants business in the United States. They will manage the business development team with client relationships. The primary goal of the Senior Director of Business Development is understanding and aligning to the evolving strategy and new investments of customers, while also providing feedback that informs our company’s strategies for growth. They must be able to speak expertly to internal and externals clients with a transparent, trustworthy approach. Since every client and project is different, they need to be able to develop creative, tailored solutions. The Senior Director of Business Development will serve as the face of NovaSource during the sales process and must always represent our values to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with customers’ executives to drive sales revenue and profitability from product sales.
  • Advance customer relationships to increase engagement across the organization. Ensure contact maps are in place and effectively coordinated to achieve “Trusted Advisor” status.
  • Craft unique value propositions that resonate with each of the major customers and are aligned with internal stakeholders for their full support.
  • Play an active, hands-on role in the business development process, and be viewed as an asset to the broader sales organization.
  • Present regular health checks to the organization on whether NovaSource is delighting the customer, identifying key areas for development.
  • Work with engineering and operations leaders, constantly assessing the company’s technology and capabilities, and devise strategies to leverage them.
  • Monitor business / market conditions and the competition, allowing the company to increase market share and maximize business opportunities.
  • Build a strong key account management team, ensuring that staff are properly trained and given development opportunities.
  • Promote the utilization of statistical and process visual measurements to insure the achievement of key milestones and goals.
  • Work with the Chief Commercial Officer on strategy development and implementation; effective management of resources and expenses.
  • Participate in and support target analysis for related Merger and Acquisition strategies.
  • Attend and participate in industry and / or customer events.
  • Play a key role in proposal management and contract negotiation, ensuring clients feedback are address and deals are awarded.

Ideal Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of business development experience in the solar industry with a large network of industry relationships.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading a sales team and the creation and deployment of business strategy.
  • Demonstrated achievement in B2B sales.
  • Deep understanding of the industry, with the ability to become a subject matter expert on the job.
  • Strong verbal / written communication, analytical, organizational, & time management skills.
  • Able to travel up to 50% of the time.

    Reporting

    The Senior Director of Business Development reports to the Chief Commercial Officer.

    Education

    Bachelor’s degree in business, construction or engineering.
