Position Summary
Position prepares operating rooms for surgery, using appropriate techniques. Provides technical services and assists in other areas as assigned and directed. Position assists in nursing care and preparation of the surgical patient by performance of routine and delegated duties according to the standards and policies of the hospital and department. Performs scrub duties and related procedures and provides assistance in emergency procedures as well as scheduled and emergency cases.

Qualifications
- Minimum requirements are a High school graduate or equivalent GED for all current employees. Completion of formal ORT program for all new hires. Thorough knowledge and experience in operative procedures, equipment and instrumentation. One year of hospital / surgical background or experience.
- Preferred Certification / Registration is a Completion of accredited Operating Room Technology course and preferred experience is One year of hospital / surgical background or experience.
- Required Licensure / Certification is CPR.

Responsibilities
Utilizes the written individualized Physician Preference card for the surgical procedure.Coordinates with circulating nurse to provide supplies, equipment and instruments for designated surgical procedure. Adheres to proper sterile technique. Conducts and documents sponge, instrument and needle counts and operating room time-out procedures.Recognizes, intervenes and reports, as indicated, any changes in the patient's status in a timely manner. Promptly answers patient's needs and requests pre-operatively and inter-operatively.Utilizes a working knowledge of current surgical scrub technology and medical terminology.Coordinates with circulating nurse to continuously assess case progress and patient's safety.
