Job Summary
The Senior Industrial Specialist is responsible for overseeing complex HVAC, refrigeration, air compressors, boilers, and pumps systems across multiple facilities. This position leads the implementation of these systems technologies, develops comprehensive maintenance strategies, and serves as the primary technical expert for all these systems-related matters. The position plays a crucial role in optimizing energy efficiency, ensuring environmental comfort, and maintaining critical climate control systems.
Essential Job Functions
Design and implement advanced HVAC, refrigeration, air compressors, boilers, and pumps systems and controls for new and existing facilities
Develop and oversee comprehensive preventative maintenance programs across all locations
Lead complex troubleshooting and repair of sophisticated systems equipment and building automation systems
Conduct energy audits and recommend efficiency improvements for HVAC systems
Manage large-scale projects on the different systems, including system upgrades and replacements
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians
Collaborate with engineering and facilities management teams on building design and renovations
Analyze systems performance data to optimize operations and reduce costs
Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards
Develop and maintain technical documentation for the systems and procedures
Serve as the primary liaison with vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies for systems matters
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Specialty Electrician with 6+ years of experience in commercial or industrial HVAC, refrigeration, air compressors, boilers, and pumps systems
Extensive knowledge of building automation systems and energy management
Strong project management and leadership skills
In-depth understanding of ASHRAE standards and local building codes
Preferred Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Journey Level Electrician License
Proficiency in HVAC design software and building information modeling (BIM)
Advanced certifications such as NATE (North American Technician Excellence) or MSCA (Mechanical Service Contractors of America) STAR certification
Experience with green building practices and LEED certification processes
Knowledge of refrigeration systems and chiller operations
Familiarity with renewable energy integration in HVAC systems
Work Environment :
This position involves on-site inspections and troubleshooting. The role requires the ability to work in various environments, including mechanical rooms, rooftops, and occasionally in confined spaces, travel between facilities. The Specialist must be comfortable working at heights, in extreme temperatures, and around high-voltage equipment. The position may involve on-call duties for emergency situations.
