Job Description
Harford Community College is seeking an Assistant Director for Trades and Apprenticeships to lead instructional programming in skilled trades and apprenticeships. This role supports departmental leadership in developing, delivering, and expanding educational programs including dual enrollment, contract training, and new initiatives and plays a key part in strengthening existing programs.
The Assistant Director will collaborate closely with local and national businesses, government partners, and community organizations, while also supporting small business development and special events.
The Assistant Director oversees day-to-day management of Workforce, Contract, and Continuing Education Career & Technical programs in areas such as Manufacturing, Construction, Electrical, HVAC, and others based on departmental needs.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) :
- Ensuring the delivery of high-quality instructional programming
- Conducting program and course evaluations along with instructional observations
- Creating and implementing new processes to improve operations
- Managing databases and building course schedules
- Collaborating with HR to hire instructors and staff classes
- Monitoring course start dates and assembling course packets
- Preparing reports and submitting required local, state, and federal data
- Coordinating with Marketing on schedules, brochures, and promotional materials
- Managing communications and responding to program inquiries
- Assisting the Director with grant submissions and compliance requirements
- Maintaining budget records and reviewing online registrations
- Supporting collaboration with HCPS and prior learning assessment activities
- Providing instructors with course management support
This position works primarily on the HCC campus, with assignments at off-site locations and occasional travel throughout the region.
Required Education
Associate degreeRequired Experience
Minimum of two years of experience in a workforce development setting, including program development, budget oversight, and marketing programs or eventsRequired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
