JOB DESCRIPTION
A Licensed Journeyman Electrician is a skilled professional responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial environments. This role ensures compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations, prioritizing safety and efficiency in all electrical operations. Journeyman Electricians often work under the supervision of a Master Electrician and may mentor apprentices.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Maintenance
Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, control systems, and lighting.
Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical schematics.
Upgrade existing electrical systems for improved performance and safety.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
Diagnose electrical issues using appropriate testing devices.
Repair or replace faulty wiring, fixtures, transformers, and circuit breakers.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all work meets NEC standards and local building codes.
Conduct preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
Maintain accurate logs of completed jobs and safety checks.
Additional Duties
Train and mentor apprentice electricians.
Respond to emergency electrical issues promptly.
Collaborate with other trades (HVAC, carpentry) when necessary.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Required Qualifications
Valid Journeyman Electrician License (Wyoming).
Minimum 3 years of commercial / industrial experience (e.g., high-voltage 480V systems).
Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams.
Strong knowledge of electrical codes and safety standards.
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments.
