Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states.

We are seeking a skilled Public Relations Specialist in Princeton, NJ . The Public Relations Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing strategic communications initiatives to advance the organization’s mission and enhance its visibility. This position requires a high degree of independent judgment, professional expertise, and creative problem-solving in designing and executing communication strategies across multiple platforms.

Starting Pay Rate : $40,000

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, media advisories, feature stories, and other communications materials that reflect organizational priorities.
  • Ensure all messaging is consistent with brand standards and organizational values.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, bloggers, and media outlets to secure coverage.
  • Serve as a media contact, responding to inquiries and proactively pitching story ideas.
  • Oversee content strategy, creation, and scheduling for social media platforms to strengthen audience engagement and growth.
  • Respond to messages, comments, and inquiries on social media and other communication channels in a timely and professional manner.
  • Plan and execute key events, community outreach efforts, and promotional activities.
  • Conduct research to identify new media opportunities and industry trends.
  • Drive marketing and promotional strategies for marketing projects to increase awareness and engagement.
  • Partner with internal departments to support organizational initiatives through strategic communications.
  • Represent the organization at external events, including meetings, professional associations, and networking functions, to build partnerships and increase visibility.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields or related studies : Public Relations, Communications, or English and / or other writing intensive major
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to meet task deadlines
