Position Summary

The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager is responsible for building, leading, and continuously improving the company's Quality Management System (QMS) including acting as lead for all Quality Audits. This role will shape the company's approach to quality across all functions, drive compliance with regulatory requirements, and lead certification efforts. The QA Manager will serve as the primary interface with the FAA Manufacturing Inspection District Office (MIDO) and will be accountable for supporting the obtaining of FAA Production Certificate (PC) and FAA Part 145 Repair Station approvals, as well as industry quality certifications such as ISO 9001.

The QA Manager will collaborate closely with senior leadership to define what "quality" means within each functional area-whether engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, finance, or customer support-ensuring that quality principles are integrated across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions :

  • Quality Management System (QMS)

Develop, implement, and maintain the company's QMS to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, FAA requirements).

  • Establish and maintain quality policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Lead internal audits and management reviews to monitor QMS effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Certification & Regulatory Compliance
  • Develop and execute the company's strategy for achieving and sustaining quality certifications (ISO 9001 and others as appropriate).

  • Lead efforts in support of all Quality aspects of FAA Production Certificate (PC) approval and liaison with the FAA Manufacturing Inspection District Office(MIDO).
  • Drive the establishment of the FAA Part 145 Repair Station for a Quality standpoint and maintain compliance thereafter and liaison with FAA (Flight Standards District Office(FSDO).
  • Act as a primary point of contact with the FAA Manufacturing Inspection District Office(MIDO), FAA (Flight Standards District Office(FSDO) and other regulatory bodies.
  • Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with senior leadership to embed quality thinking into all functions (e.g., quality in design, manufacturing, finance, customer support).

  • Provide coaching and guidance to functional leaders to ensure quality metrics and practices are aligned with business goals.
  • Promote a company-wide culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Supplier & Partner Quality
  • Oversee supplier quality assurance processes and ensure alignment with company and regulatory requirements.

  • Support vendor audits, evaluations, and corrective action initiatives.
  • Team Development
  • Build and lead a high-performing quality team capable of supporting certification, compliance, and continuous improvement goals.

  • Mentor and develop team members to build organizational capability in quality management.
  • Manage FAA Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representatives (DMIR's) within Electra.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Required Education and Experience :

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or equivalent experience in an aviation manufacturing company.

  • 8+ years of experience in aerospace quality assurance, regulatory compliance, or certification management.
  • Demonstrated experience with FAA regulations, including Production Certificates (PC) and Part 145 Repair Stations.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 and other relevant quality standards.
  • Strong track record of developing and implementing QMS frameworks in regulated industries.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills; proven ability to influence across functional boundaries.
  • Experience engaging directly with FAA MIDO or equivalent regulatory agencies preferred.
  • Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • US Person (Citizen or Green Card) preferred.
  • Success in This Role Will Look Like

  • An effective, compliant QMS is established and maintained.
  • FAA PC and Part 145 certifications are fully supported through certification.
  • Relevant certifications are obtained and successfully renewed.
  • Each senior leadership function has defined, measurable quality goals aligned with overall business strategy.

  • Location : Corporate headquarters in Manassas, VA. This position requires an onsite presence.

    Travel :

    Salary : Electra's salary range for this position is : $140,000.00-$190,000.00 Our salary ranges reflect the minimum and maximum range for the Company level overall across all locations & projects and does not necessarily reflect the budgeted amount for this position. Individual pay is based on additional factors, including project budgets, job-related skills, experience, relevant education and / or training, role, level, location, and project.

    Working Conditions

    Work is typically performed in a warehouse / aviation and office environment, which requires proper safety precautions. Work may require some physical effort in handling light materials, boxes, power tools, prototypes, and different materials or equipment. Due to the nature of our business and projects, some fieldwork may be required, working in both indoor and outdoor conditions. You may need to lift up to 50 lbs.
