Position Overview
WGK is seeking an in-office Project Engineer / Project Manager to support our Wake Forest operations team.
This position is responsible for assisting with project management, procurement, submittals, scheduling, and coordination between the office and field teams.
It’s an excellent opportunity for someone with water / wastewater experience looking to grow into a full Project Manager role.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Project Managers in the execution of active water / wastewater construction projects.
- Prepare, track, and process submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
- Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Review drawings and specifications for constructability and compliance.
- Maintain project schedules, budgets, and documentation.
- Attend client and internal coordination meetings.
- Assist with QA / QC tracking, pay applications, and project closeout packages.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent field experience).
- 3–7 years of experience in water / wastewater or industrial construction.
- Familiarity with pump stations, piping systems, and treatment plant process equipment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Project, Excel, and document control software.
- Must be able to work full-time in the Wake Forest office (no remote or hybrid options).
- OSHA 10 / 30 certification preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with occasional regional site travel.
