Velocity Care is a dynamic, fast-paced urgent care system with seven regional sites located in southwest VA, delivering high-quality, acute care for patients of all ages. Our providers manage a broad range of conditions, from upper respiratory infections, minor fractures, lacerations and more. We offer a balanced mix of scheduled visits and walk-ins, ensuring variety in your practice. Clinics operate from 8 AM to 8 PM, seven days a week, with flexible scheduling options, including 12-, 10-, and 8-hour shifts. Providers work primarily at 2-3 local sites but are credentialed across the system, maximizing both convenience and staffing flexibility.

The Nurse Practitioner is a member of a collaborative health care team and functions as a primary health care provider that determines the patient's health and medical status by taking a health history, performing physical exams, initiating screening and diagnostic procedures, providing health maintenance services, pregnancy management, minor trauma, acute illnesses, and stable chronic illness.
The Nurse Practitioner demonstrates knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and assesses data reflective of the patient's status. The Nurse Practitioner interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs, and provides care, according to departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
Provide primary health care services within the urgent care setting, including history taking, physical examinations, screening and diagnostic procedures, health maintenance, pregnancy management, minor trauma care, acute illnesses, and management of stable chronic illnesses.
Qualifications
Education : Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Experience : 0
Licensure / Certification : Current state Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LNP), DEA license and Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required. AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced Life Support certification preferred. Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.
Other : Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers, good written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
