Med / Surg Tele RN Job Details

Location : Mechanicsville, VA 23116 (Richmond area nursing jobs)

Unit : 29-bed Medical Surgical Telemetry Unit

Assignment Type : Travel Registered Nurse

Start Date : November 3, 2025

End Date : January 31, 2026

Duration : 13-week contract

Hours per Week : 36 (full-time nursing position)

Shift : 12-hour day shifts; every other weekend / holiday required

Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $1780 - $1910

Equipment : Alaris Pumps, Hercules Beds

Scrub Colors : Navy blue, white, or combination

Patient Ratio : 1 : 5-6 (subject to staffing changes)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active RN license in Virginia or compact state (required for travel nursing jobs)

Minimum 1 year of recent Med / Surg Telemetry RN experience

Proficient in lab draws and IV starts

BLS (Basic Life Support) and NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certifications

Successful completion of EKG exam (study guide provided)

Ability to work every other weekend and holiday

No local candidates (must live outside a 50-mile radius of Mechanicsville, VA)

Med / Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans

Administer medications safely according to hospital and nursing standards

Coordinate patient care with interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Independently draw labs and initiate IV therapy

Advocate for patient safety and participate in quality improvement initiatives

Manage care for patients with multi-system organ failure and multisystem trauma

Respond effectively to rapidly changing patient conditions

Educate patients and families on treatment plans and recovery

Utilize advanced clinical equipment (Alaris Pumps, Hercules Beds)

Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and adaptability in a fast-paced healthcare environment
