What You'll Do
The Coding Specialist - Ambulatory Services works in professional clinic, outpatient and inpatient hospital settings, nursing homes, or home settings. You will apply chart auditing knowledge, including CPT, HCPCS or ICD-10-CM coding guidelines, to ensure complete and compliant code assignment. You will review all available documentation for each patient encounter and assign appropriate codes that represent medical necessity. You will use standard query and clarification processes to ensure consistency between documentation, charges and codes. You will adhere to AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding and AAPC Code of Ethics and official coding rules. Occasional travel to Gundersen Health System facilities is required.
