Enterprise Architect (Healthcare) - Remote
About the role
We're seeking an Enterprise Architect with healthcare experience to define target architectures and guide modernization across payer / provider, clinical, and analytics platforms. You'll translate business strategy into executable roadmaps, standardize reference architectures, and ensure solutions are secure, compliant, and cost-effective.
Key responsibilities
Develop current / target state architectures, capability maps, and multi-year transition roadmaps.
Lead architecture governance (ARBs), create reference patterns for cloud, integration, data, and security.
Drive interoperability and data strategy (FHIR / HL7, APIs, event streaming, lakehouse / MDM, Purview / governance).
Embed security-by-design and zero-trust; align to HIPAA / HITRUST, 21 CFR Part 11 where applicable.
Guide teams through legacy modernization (monolith microservices, on-prem cloud), DR / BCP, and cost / FinOps.
Establish observability / NFRs (reliability, performance, privacy), and measure architectural fitness.
Mentor solution / data / security architects; enable delivery with playbooks and reusable accelerators.
Required qualifications
10+ years in architecture (enterprise / solution), including 4+ in healthcare (payer / provider, EHR, rev cycle, or public health).
Proven delivery of enterprise roadmaps and complex migrations on a major cloud (Azure / AWS / GCP).
Depth in at least two : integration (API mgmt, Kafka / Event Hub), data platforms (Databricks / Synapse / Snowflake; MDM), application platforms (AKS / EKS, serverless), or security architecture.
Working knowledge of healthcare standards and workflows (FHIR / HL7 v2, SMART on FHIR, HIPAA, BAAs).
Strong stakeholder communication; experience running ARBs and writing ADRs / reference architectures.
Hands-on IaC / automation mindset (Terraform / Bicep / CloudFormation), CI / CD, and observability (Monitor / CloudWatch, APM).
Nice to have
TOGAF or equivalent; cloud architect certs (AZ-305 / AWS SA); HITRUST / HCISPP familiarity.
EHR integration exposure (Epic / Cerner), payer data (claims / encounters), and privacy engineering (tokenization, RLS / CLS).
