Manatee County Sheriff's Office offers a position with a salary of $76,001.64 - $114,796.24 annually in FL 34221, FL. This is a full-time job in the Corrections Bureau under the Corrections Bureau Exec section.

Applicants must be corrections certified in the state of Florida. This role includes performing sworn corrections deputy duties involving the care, custody, and physical restraint of prisoners or inmates within a corrections facility, while on work details, or while being transported outside the facility. Responsibilities include booking and releasing offenders; maintaining security of the facility; enforcing security rules, regulations and procedures; and escorting offenders within and / or outside the secure confines of the corrections facility.

Key knowledge, skills, and abilities include the ability to physically handle and control inmates resisting detention, communicate effectively verbally and in writing, anticipate potential adverse or unsafe situations, and react according to agency policy and procedures. Additional skills include knowledge of policies and procedures used in the operation of a corrections facility, knowledge of local, state, and federal laws concerning the Criminal Justice System, and knowledge of first-aid and CPR techniques.

Tasks include supervising meal periods, inmate visitations, and inmate and trustee work details; responding to inquiries regarding status of inmates; completing and maintaining accurate records; operating computerized management information systems; and observing inmate behaviors and physical conditions.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, corrections certification, qualifying with firearms, and a valid Florida driver license. For out-of-state corrections-certified deputies, exemptions may apply based on certification and experience.
