Licensed Electrical Engineer or EIT

Bowley Jones LLC is an Architecture & Consulting MEP Engineering firm seeking a full-time, licensed Electrical Engineer or EIT to join our growing team in Severn, Maryland. As a contributing member and leader of the team, you will manage a portfolio of electrical consulting projects from start to finish, performing all aspects of the electrical engineering process including site surveys, documentation, design, client relationships, and construction administration. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with an entrepreneurial spirit who wants to contribute directly to our company's success and grow with us.

Activities Include

  • Conduct site and building system surveys.
  • Develop and draw complex electrical design solutions in accordance with current code requirements and sound engineering principles.
  • Resolve complex design challenges while instilling confidence in clients.
  • Represent the firm at client meetings and communicate effectively with project teams and clients.
  • Grow and maintain professional relationships with local jurisdictions and utility companies, including knowledge of coordination processes.
  • Provide excellent customer service while marketing the firm's capabilities to establish and strengthen client and partner relationships.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for Design Engineers.
  • Apply broad engineering principles and procedures.
  • Review work for quality assurance and oversee designs through project construction and completion.
  • Organize and prioritize multiple tasks to complete work efficiently.
  • Perform electrical calculations such as load studies, voltage drop, panel / transformer / feeder loading, generator sizing, and illumination levels.
  • Produce narratives, drawings, and specifications to meet project milestones.
  • Attend coordination and design meetings as needed.
  • Address comments from clients, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), and review agencies.
  • Provide construction administration services, including reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and punch walks.
  • Continue developing knowledge of applicable codes.
  • Maintain proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, and lighting design software (e.g., AGI, Visual).

Qualifications

  • PE license in Maryland.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Experience designing electrical systems such as lighting, power distribution, and fire alarm systems in various building types.
  • At least 5 years of experience in design and modification of systems for multifamily, commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Strong knowledge of standard codes and compliance methods.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Understanding and application of NEC, IBC, and NFPA codes.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
