Your Responsibilities as a Dump Truck Driver

As a Dump Truck Driver at Petticoat-Schmitt, you’ll play a critical role in keeping projects on schedule and ensuring safe and efficient material transport.

Operate dump trucks equipped with hydraulic beds to haul and unload loose materials such as dirt, sand, gravel, crushed rock, asphalt, and other aggregates.

Verify load types, quantities, and weights before transport.

Maintain accurate records of materials hauled and submit tickets to the project coordinator.

Communicate effectively with foremen and superintendents to ensure timely delivery of materials to each jobsite.

Maintain your vehicle through daily inspections, regular cleaning, and prompt reporting of maintenance needs.

Follow all traffic laws, DOT regulations, and Petticoat-Schmitt safety standards.

Arrive on time, ready to work, and complete deliveries according to project schedules.

Requirements for the Dump Truck Driver Position

Valid CDL Class A license required.

Minimum 2 years of experience operating dump trucks in construction or heavy civil environments .

Clean driving record with no major violations.

Strong understanding of DOT safety requirements and vehicle operation.

Ability to read and understand job tickets and project instructions.

Must have reliable transportation and be willing to commute within a 70-mile radius of Jacksonville, FL.

Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Hours Information

Normal hours are Monday–Friday, 7 : 00 AM – 4 : 00 PM.

Hours may extend depending on production needs.

Some Saturdays as necessary. Sundays off.

Expect approximately 40–45 hours per week.
