The greater Naples / Ft. Myers area is looking for a skilled\nand motivated Veterinarian with a passion for leadership.
The Medical Director / Managing Veterinarian (MDVM) \nprovides medical leadership for the hospital, manages associate veterinarians,\nand ensures compliance with veterinary regulations. This role is responsible\nfor fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment where quality\nmedicine and exceptional client care are consistently delivered.
In partnership with the Hospital Manager , the MDVM\noversees financial performance, operational efficiency, and staff development,\nhelping to cultivate a supportive and collaborative workplace. The hospital\nteam is supported by South Florida-based Divisional Leadership ,\nproviding training, reporting, and resources to help build a best-in-class\npractice. MDVMs also have the opportunity to network and learn from peers in\nsimilar roles across nearby veterinary clinics.
Duties and Responsibilities
Advancing Medical Care
\n
- Establish\n medical protocols and provide training to associate veterinarians.
\n
Oversee\n surgical and medical cases, ensuring positive outcomes, accurate\n estimates, and clear client communication.\n
Address\n client questions and concerns regarding medical and surgical procedures.\n
Maintain\n high standards of medical care and quality assurance.\n
Manage\n costs related to medical supplies, surgical instruments, and drug\n inventories.\n
Leading Staff and Practice
\n
Participate\n in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring associate doctors and other staff\n when appropriate.\n
Monitor\n associate doctor performance and productivity.\n
Provide\n mentorship, feedback, and guidance to associate veterinarians through\n ongoing coaching and structured annual reviews.\n
Develop\n and oversee hospital-specific client compliance protocols.\n
Participate\n in technician performance evaluations and medical counseling.\n
Ensure\n all medical staff receive appropriate training, including mentoring new\n graduates.\n
Support\n the Hospital Manager in staff training programs, continuing education\n tracking, and DVM licensure compliance.\n
Financial Responsibilities
\n
Drive\n revenue growth and hospital contribution by guiding associate doctors on\n appropriate medicine and client compliance.\n
Manage\n medical expenses, pricing, and ensure accurate billing for services\n provided.\n
Assist\n in preparing annual planning strategy, operating budget, and capital\n budget.\n
Monitor\n and act upon key financial reports to ensure operational and financial\n success.\n
Growing the Practice
\n
Build\n and maintain the clinic’s reputation within the community.\n
Support\n innovative programs and embrace positive change within the hospital.\n
Monitor\n client service, marketing, and growth initiatives.\n
Seek\n ways to improve operational practices to enhance practice growth.\n
Identify\n opportunities for adding doctors to the team as the practice expands.\n
Skills and Basic Qualifications
\n
Doctor\n of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent from an accredited\n university.\n
Licensure\n in good standing to practice in Florida.\n
Commitment\n to the highest standards of veterinary medicine and professional ethics.\n
MDVM\n experience is welcome but not required; open to experienced DVMs\n interested in leadership roles.\n
Ability\n to delegate tasks effectively and achieve results with the hospital team.\n
Confident\n and effective decision-making skills.\n
Strong\n leadership abilities, including coaching, motivating, and developing\n staff.\n
Excellent\n time and task management skills.\n
Ability\n to collaborate with NVA leadership to drive clinic-level outcomes.\n
Professional\n and courteous manner with staff, clients, and peers.\n

Although pay may vary by clinic and position, Managing\nVeterinarians can generally expect :
