Role Description

  • Overall 10+ Yrs. Experience
  • This requirement is for an API Test Engineer role - the client basically wants someone who can plan, execute, and automate testing for APIs, with strong collaboration and reporting skills.

Test Planning & Design

  • Create comprehensive test plans and test cases for APIs.
  • Cover all aspects : functional, performance, security, reliability.

    • Test Execution

  • Perform manual API testing (Postman, SoapUI).
  • Perform automated API testing (Rest Assured, Selenium integration for UI + API).

    • Defect Management

  • Log bugs in defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, ALM).
  • Collaborate with developers to resolve them.

    • Automation

  • Write & maintain automated scripts in Java, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Use frameworks like Rest Assured (for API automation), possibly Selenium for UI-related API tests.

    • Collaboration

  • Work closely with developers, QA engineers, and stakeholders to ensure all API scenarios are covered.

    • Reporting

  • Prepare clear test reports on API quality and performance.

    • Analytical Skills

  • Diagnose complex API issues, debug, and find root causes.

    • Essential

  • API Testing Tools → Postman, SoapUI (or similar).
  • Automation Frameworks → Rest Assured, Selenium.
  • Programming → Java, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Strong QA Knowledge → Functional, performance, security testing of APIs.

    • Good to Have

  • Data protection & security compliance in QA.
  • Knowledge of API architecture (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML).
