Job Summary
Join the legendary Queen Mary as our Plumber, where you’ll help preserve and maintain the ship’s historic infrastructure while ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plumbing systems throughout this iconic ocean liner. This essential role combines hands-on expertise with a commitment to excellence, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term preservation efforts aboard one of the world’s most celebrated maritime landmarks.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a plumbing apprenticeship or vocational program required.
- Valid California journeyman plumber license (or equivalent certification).
- Minimum of 3–5 years of professional plumbing experience, preferably in large facilities, hotels, or historic properties.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, safety procedures, and water system maintenance.
- Experience with marine or vintage mechanical systems a plus.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call rotations as needed.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
Maintenance & Repair : Inspect, maintain, and repair plumbing systems, fixtures, pumps, valves, and piping throughout the ship, ensuring optimal function and compliance with applicable codes and safety standards.Preventive Care & Upkeep : Develop and perform routine maintenance schedules for all plumbing systems, including freshwater, greywater, and wastewater systems, to prevent leaks, corrosion, and operational failures.Historic Preservation : Work closely with engineering team to repair or replace plumbing components in a manner that preserves the ship’s historical integrity while maintaining modern safety and efficiency standards.Installation & Upgrades : Assist with the installation and modification of plumbing systems to support ongoing restoration projects, exhibits, and guest amenities, ensuring minimal disruption to operations and public spaces.Emergency Response : Respond promptly to plumbing emergencies, including leaks, clogs, and water system malfunctions, ensuring safety and minimal impact to guests, staff, and the ship’s infrastructure.Documentation & Compliance : Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs, and ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.Collaboration & Teamwork : Partner with Engineering and Operations departments to support special projects, event operations, and ongoing ship maintenance initiatives.After an initial waiting period, those hired into full time positions are eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes the following :
