Mental Health Technician
performs selected patient care activities. The
Mental Health Technician
is a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team and provides support for the patients therapeutic treatment plan. Primary responsibilities inclu
observing
and recording patient information pertinent to the treatment plan and reporting this information to the Staff Registered Nurse.
Must be capable of physically
assisting
patients, dealing with patient emergencies, and working as a member of a clinical team.
KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE
year experience in behavioral health unit preferred. Knowledge of safety measures.
EDUCATION
High
School Diploma or GED preferred.
LICENSE / CERTIFICATION / REGISTRY
preferred; if no certificate at time of hire, must have CNA certification within 1 year of date of hire
Medical terminology
and current BLS Certification are
required
CPI / PART as required by state.
Aptitudes
Ability
to achieve cognitive,
organization
and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines,
difficult situations
and / or customers
Possesses interpersonal / communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations
Open to feedback and open to a changing environment, which requires flexibility in scheduling and department assignments.
Able to read and write in order to complete medical reports and basic arithmetic is required.
