Description :

The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care.

This includes executing licensed provider orders, dispensing medications, and assisting providers in examinations and treatment of patients.

The RN applies nursing and supervisory techniques required in the care, treatment, and referrals of individuals.

They perform all technical and clinical procedures within the scope of their education and licensure.

The RN attends sick calls with physicians to see individuals.

They prepare a list of individuals to be examined and set up the examining room and equipment.

The RN operates pill calls, dispenses medication, and documents as required by applicable policies.

They communicate with licensed providers for medication and treatment orders and manage emergencies.

The RN examines and assesses new individuals with illnesses or injuries and refers them to appropriate healthcare facilities when required.

They perform emergency procedures as needed and notify licensed providers for treatment orders.

The RN assists in coordinating medical services provided by contract personnel.

They monitor inpatient hospitalizations for early releases whenever appropriate.

The RN guides, supervises, and monitors nursing care provided by licensed and non-licensed staff.

They maintain a professional relationship with facility staff, nursing staff, contract providers, and outside agencies.

The RN utilizes established policies and procedures effectively in decision-making while exercising sound judgment.

They regularly evaluate medical services to prevent inappropriate use or duplication.

The RN maintains security and confidentiality of medical records.

They assist in reviewing medical files to ensure all services are documented properly.

The RN closely monitors potential catastrophic illnesses.

They audit pharmacy use for adherence to formulary as directed.

The RN complies with applicable pharmacy laws, including those covering controlled substances.

They observe and record individual behavior and inspect the medical unit for potential contraband items.

The RN provides health counseling and education on an individual or group basis.

They assist in preparing and maintaining a variety of records, reports, and logs using appropriate grammar.

The RN reads, analyzes, and comprehends medical and technical procedures and legal documents.

They review and respond to lawsuits as necessary and attend court hearings when required.

The RN facilitates accreditation of the medical program by providing approved medical services.

They prepare and disseminate safety and accident reports as required by policies.

The RN takes appropriate action in cases of serious incidents and emergencies.
