Job Description and Duties

This position is eligible for teleworking under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, but some in-office work may be required.

This advertisement is posted as “until filled.” Applications will be reviewed every week beginning 02 / 16 / 2024, and selections can be made. However, the Job Control will remain open until the vacancy is filled.

The Cradle-to-Career (C2C) program is a longitudinal data system that will provide policymakers, researchers, educators, students, families, and other stakeholders’ answers to key questions about student progression and outcomes. Ultimately, C2C will be a useful tool that will help provide critical information about the pipelines from early care to K-12 to higher education skills training and employment along with health and human services data. This data system will help support teachers, advisors, parents, and students and be an evidence-based tool that decision makers and researchers can use to help California adopt more equitable policies by providing insight into how educational experiences impact students’ subsequent academic achievement, work, and earnings.

Under administrative direction from the Director of Data Infrastructure, the Senior Data Engineer will serve as the lead on data pipeline engineering. You will be a proponent for modern data stack approaches at the state. You will ensure that data is available as a service for warehouses, digital services, dashboards, etc. The Senior Data Engineer will plan, develop and document policies and best practices for the Office of Cradle-to-Career Data. You'll collaborate with other team members to help adopt modern cloud-based data practices. You'll transform your knowledge, expertise, and hands on experience into practical guidance and toolkits.
