Senior Software Engineer – Linux Wi-Fi Driver

$100K – $180K | Full-Time | Colorado Springs, CO 80920

About the Role

Seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in embedded Linux and Wi-Fi driver development. This role focuses on low-level programming, Linux kernel work, wireless protocols, and performance optimization for next-generation network and measurement devices.

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain Linux device drivers for x86 and ARM platforms.
Develop Linux-based measurement software in C++.
Integrate Wi-Fi drivers directly into the Linux kernel.
Optimize performance and reliability of wireless connectivity.
Troubleshoot kernel, driver, and Wi-Fi stability issues.
Collaborate with hardware, security, and application teams.
Act as technical lead : code reviews, architectural decisions, mentoring.
Stay current with emerging embedded, Linux kernel, and wireless tech.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s / Master’s in Computer Science or related field.

10+ years in embedded software engineering, Linux & driver focus.

Proven experience with 802.11 WLAN driver development and wireless stacks.

Strong C / C++ skills; Java knowledge a plus.

Solid understanding of networking protocols & wireless standards.

Expertise with POSIX Linux systems.

Debugging, profiling, and performance tuning on embedded Linux.

Familiar with Wi-Fi chipsets and hardware interaction.

SELinux, encryption protocols (PEAP, CHAP, TLS, 802.1x).

Preferred Skills

In-depth Linux kernel architecture knowledge.

Kernel module debugging tools.

Contributions to open-source or upstream projects.

Wireless security contexts and policy development.

Developer community engagement (e.g., Android / embedded).
