WittKieffer has partnered with Hunterdon Healthcare System (HHS) in Flemington, NJ, to conduct the search for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This is a unique opportunity for an experienced finance executive to partner with a seasoned and collaborative leadership team to provide financial expertise to a stable, clinically sophisticated, growing health system.
The CFO will report directly to Patrick Gavin, President and CEO of Hunterdon Healthcare System. With reported revenues exceeding $477 million, the organization maintains a strong market position and consistently achieves positive operating results. HHS is an independent not‑for‑profit community health system consisting of Hunterdon Medical Center (HMC), Hunterdon Healthcare Foundation, Hunterdon Regional Community Health (HRCH), and MidJersey Health Corporation, which houses the system’s for‐profit business lines, including joint ventures. With 184 beds, Hunterdon Medical Center treats over 8,000 inpatients annually and receives more than 30,000 emergency department visits each year. The health system supports a strong ambulatory base of services, currently totaling over 800,000 outpatient visits annually. Hunterdon has a unique medical staff model with a clinically integrated network. HHS’s strong market position is a result of strategic partnerships with its medical staff, a strong payer mix, and a loyal community.
The incoming CFO will need to be a talented communicator, highly analytical, and an educator relative to financial matters to contribute to a wide range of strategic and operational issues. HHS seeks an outstanding leader and a seasoned healthcare executive with significant financial management experience. They must be a contemporary thinker regarding the financial future and challenges of healthcare delivery, innovative, experienced in mergers and acquisitions, and efficient in overseeing the financial management of the System.
The incoming CFO must provide strong financial leadership, creating engagement and accountability for financial results with colleagues and leaders. Among the CFO’s staff, the appetite for accountability and rigor is great, and the CFO will continue to mentor, develop, and grow talent among the Finance team.
