Position Overview The Technical Services Manager is a key member of BYLD’s Project Development team, helping advance our mission to lower the cost of construction through smarter design, technology, and collaboration.
This position combines technical expertise, architectural understanding, and systems thinking to ensure that architects, engineers, and clients receive clear, timely, and accurate guidance throughout the design and construction process.
About 70% of this role focuses on technical and client services, 20% on model-based estimating development, and 10% on professional learning and growth within BYLD’s evolving business model.
You’ll work closely with teams across the organization — including our technical and engineering teams in Poland — to improve processes, document best practices, and help shape how BYLD delivers value to our partners.

Key Responsibilities (70%) Technical and Client Services Serve as a technical liaison for architects, engineers, and clients — translating complex building and construction challenges into clear, actionable guidance.
Partner with BYLD’s engineering teams in Poland to deliver coordinated technical support, resolve issues efficiently, and maintain consistent documentation standards.
Lead the creation and upkeep of the “BYLD Book” — a living resource that captures BYLD’s design standards, technical details, lessons learned, and process documentation for internal and partner use.
Collaborate across the organization to identify issues, improve workflows, and develop clear documentation that enhances understanding and project delivery.
Research and apply expertise in :
- Conversion of combustible to non-combustible construction systems.
- Building types (I–V) and their impact on design, cost, and constructability.
- UL and other tested assemblies for fire and sound performance.
- Supporting Engineering Judgements and offering informed technical direction for project-specific needs.
- Develop strategies for future material and assembly testing with partners such as ClarkDietrich and other system providers.
- Stay current with building codes, material innovations, and construction methods that influence BYLD’s approach to project development. (20%) Model-Based Estimating Development Contribute to the development of model-based estimating tools and workflows that link design intent to cost accuracy and constructability.
- Use tools such as Revit, Rhino, and Grasshopper to support automation, data integration, and efficiency within estimating processes.
- Collaborate with engineering and project development teams to refine digital workflows and improve the accuracy of project forecasting.
- Document, analyze, and iterate on systems to drive consistency and transparency across projects. (10%) Professional Growth and Learning Dedicate structured time to learning about BYLD’s business model, mission, and project delivery systems.
- Engage with leaders across departments to understand the relationships between design, engineering, and business outcomes.
- Participate in professional development initiatives and contribute ideas that improve BYLD’s collective knowledge base.
- Stay curious — exploring emerging tools, materials, and systems that can further reduce the cost and complexity of construction.

Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related technical field. 5+ years of professional experience in architecture, engineering, or technical design.Strong understanding of building systems and types (I–V), and experience with construction documentation and detailing.Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, and Grasshopper.Familiarity with tested assemblies (UL or equivalent) and the process of supporting or drafting Engineering Judgements.Experience collaborating with international engineering or design teams (experience with European coordination a plus).Excellent technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.A balance of independence and teamwork — able to manage priorities while contributing to a shared vision.COMPENSATION PACKAGE :
