- Competency in Arterial Lines
- Ability to titrate medications such as Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Insulin
- RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips
- Must be a team player, flexible, adaptable, with strong communication skills
Description :
The unit is a stepdown unit with a capacity of 40 beds and an average daily census of 24.
The nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 4-5 for both days and nights.
Common diagnoses include cardiac medical / surgical cases, dialysis, cancer diagnoses, vascular issues, sepsis, respiratory conditions, strokes, post-stent, and post-pacemaker placement, as well as renal failure.
Registered Nurses are required to manage titratable drips and have skills in troubleshooting high-flow respiratory equipment.
Charge nurses are present on each shift and take patient assignments.
There are nurse aids on the unit with a ratio of 1 : 12, supporting the delivery of care.
RNs are expected to float to MedSurg or ICU as needed to care for patients with similar acuity levels.
The weekly schedule includes every other weekend and a minimum of two holidays during the contract duration.
Successful candidates are those who demonstrate a willingness to learn, respond to feedback positively, and work effectively within a culturally diverse patient population.
The unit emphasizes patient experience scores, responsiveness, and communication regarding medication.
