SUMMARY
The Grants & Research Assistant supports the Development team in securing funding to advance RBBB's mission. This role contributes through research, writing, and administrative support in the grant process. Depending on experience, the Assistant will help draft proposals or provide supporting materials, and may work closely with program, finance, and leadership staff to gather information needed for strong submissions. This is a brand new position at Read Better Be Better, part of a growing development team and organizational expansion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research prospective funding opportunities and maintain records of upcoming deadlines.
 - Support the preparation and submission of grant applications, including drafting, editing, or formatting proposal materials.
 - Gather and organize information from staff across the organization (program data, budget information, narratives, etc.) for proposals and reports.
 - Track grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and submission statuses.
 - Maintain organized digital files and databases related to grants and development activities.
 - Assist with other writing and research projects for the Development team as needed.
 - Duties and responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice.
 
REQUIRED SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES

1+ years of non-profit experience working in fundraising or project organizationDemonstrated experience communicating to a variety of audiencesAbility to obtain a Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance CardMust have the ability and willingness to occasionally work evenings and weekendsPREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Experience with Salesforce or another CRMExperience in grantwriting, research, fundraising, or related writing (academic, professional, or nonprofit).Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or other productivity tools.Familiarity with nonprofit work, youth development, or education.Familiarity with the Arizona educational landscapeWORK ENVIRONMENT
This is an in-person role. This position operates primarily in a professional office setting, with occasional responsibilities at partner sites or events in the Greater Phoenix area. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets.
