Job Description

YOUR DAY TO DAY:

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team in Irving, TX. This role blends hands-on design and validation with cross-functional collaboration, contributing to the development of rugged Satellite Communications (SATCOM) and electromechanical systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on designer equally comfortable driving CAD models and working on the production floor to solve real-world challenges. This position offers strong growth potential for an engineer ready to expand skills, take on increasing responsibility, and own designs from concept through final build.

YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

Design & Documentation:

  • Executing the mechanical design of components and subsystems for complex antenna terminals using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Researching and analyzing vendor products and COTS components to determine the feasibility and application of new designs.
  • Creating and maintaining a complete technical data package, including drawings, assembly procedures, and Bills of Material (BOMs), while adhering to engineering change management processes.

Analysis & Validation

  • Supporting advanced engineering analysis (FEA, thermal) using tools like Ansys and MathCAD to validate design performance.
  • Participating directly in the assembly, integration, and verification of prototypes through hands-on testing.
  • Developing clear documentation and providing hands-on support to train manufacturing technicians for production handoff.

Collaboration & Project Execution:

  • Owning your individual project tasks, providing accurate schedule estimates, and ensuring your deliverables align with key program milestones.
  • Actively participating in and supporting formal design and peer reviews to ensure technical excellence and alignment.
  • Driving full-lifecycle product support, which includes analyzing mechanical failures, managing component obsolescence, providing direct customer support, and developing assembly and troubleshooting guides for internal teams.
  • Working closely with other disciplines to ensure the successful integration of the complete electromechanical system.
  • Traveling up to 25% (domestic and international) to support system deployment, suppliers, or customers.

YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience designing rugged, electromechanical products, preferably in an NPI or IRAD environment.
  • A U.S. Citizen status and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks and a working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • A passion for Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Assembly (DFA) to create elegant, efficient, and repeatable designs.
  • Experience using ERP/PLM systems for managing BOMs and engineering changes with obsessive detail.
  • Experience using Ansys and/or MathCAD for design validation (FEA, thermal).
  • A hands-on, builder's mindset; you're as comfortable with a wrench as you are with a mouse.
  • The ability to excel as a critical team member in a lean, fast-paced environment.
  • A strong understanding of RF principles and electronic packaging (highly desired).
  • Familiarity with collaborative tools like Azure DevOps or Jira.
