The Project Planner / Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules to support successful execution across engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning. This role ensures schedule accuracy, supports project decision-making, and provides clear reporting to project leadership and stakeholders.
Job Description
- Develop detailed baseline schedules in Primavera P6 covering all project phases (engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, and closeout).
- Break down project scope into structured WBS levels and logically linked activities with appropriate resource loading.
- Update schedules on a weekly or monthly cycle to reflect actual progress, delays, and changes.
- Ensure the schedule maintains proper logic, sequencing, and a realistic critical path throughout the project lifecycle.
- Perform critical path and float analysis, along with “what-if” scenario modeling to support informed decision-making.
- Generate schedule reports, dashboards, progress curves, manpower histograms, S-curves, and earned value analysis.
- Identify schedule variances and provide recommended recovery or mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, and subcontractor teams to collect data and validate schedule accuracy.
- Lead and support schedule review sessions with project teams and stakeholders, presenting risks, impacts, and forecasted outcomes.
- Support planning and schedule development during pre-construction, bidding, and project handoff phases.
- Incorporate approved changes and scope adjustments into schedule updates and forecasts.
- Maintain and document baseline, current, and forecast schedule versions.
- Prepare time-impact analyses (TIA) for delays, changes, and claims as required.
- 3–7+ years of experience as a project planner, scheduler, or project controls specialist.
- Demonstrated expertise in Primavera P6 (P6 Professional).
- Experience in industrial, construction, oil & gas, power, manufacturing, infrastructure, or engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies and work sequencing.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 (required).
- Strong MS Excel capabilities (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
- Experience with earned value management (EVM) preferred.
- Familiarity with project controls systems such as SAP, CMiC, Procore, or similar.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and project execution documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Clear, concise, and professional communication.
- Able to work under deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- Primarily office-based with occasional visits to active construction or industrial sites.
