About the Position
Position Summary : We are seeking a skilled and certified Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) for a 13-week travel assignment. The SPT will be responsible for the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment. This role supports a high-volume acute care surgical department and requires precision, efficiency, and adherence to infection control standards. Key Responsibilities : Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment Perform endoscope reprocessing (bronchoscopes, colonoscopes, EGDs, etc.) Operate sterilization systems (Steam, Sterrad, Steris, Gas / ETO, IUSS) and monitor biological / chemical indicators Disinfect medical equipment including crash carts, PCA pumps, IV pumps Maintain accurate records and uphold safety, labeling, and wrapping protocols Collaborate with OR and clinical teams to ensure availability of sterile supplies.
Requirements
Required Qualifications : Completion of an accredited Sterile Processing program Minimum 2 years of recent sterile processing experience Certification required : CBSPD or IAHCSMM / HSPA BLS certification required Experience with endoscope reprocessing required Familiarity with Epic charting system Community hospital experience preferred First-time travelers accepted Core Competencies : Aseptic technique and universal infection control standards Proficient in HLD, IUSS, steam, gas, and low-temp sterilization Skilled in surgical instrument set assembly, preference card use, and wrapping / labeling standards Knowledge of specialty instruments across general surgery, orthopedics, OB / GYN, ophthalmology, and endoscopy
