Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform dental hygiene services and procedures, including dental prophylaxis, scaling, fluoride treatment, and sealant application
- Assess oral health conditions, review health history, oral cancer screening, and head and neck inspection
- Interpret radiographs and periodontal data to make appropriate clinical diagnoses
- Formulate individualized care plans based on patient conditions and oral hygiene concerns
- Provide instructions on proper oral hygiene strategies for disease prevention
- Collaborate with dentists to inform about patient care and treatment plans
- Document patient dental histories and treatment procedures for continuity of care
- Maintain dental equipment and sharpen and sterilize dental instruments
- Ensure that all health and safety protocols relating to COVID-19 and other guidelines are adhered to rigorously
- Engagement in continuous education to stay informed of new research and techniques in dental hygiene
Requirements
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited programCurrent dental hygienist license in the state of practiceMinimum of two years of clinical experience as a Dental HygienistStrong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to interact effectively with patients and team membersProficient in the use of modern dental software and comfortable with digital dental recordsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and remain organizedAdvanced knowledge of preventive dental care, periodontal therapies, and non-surgical periodontal treatmentsCommitment to adhering to all sanitary and health regulations and guidelinesAbility to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environmentStrong ethical standards and a commitment to patient privacy
