NV5 is seeking a Principal Landscape Architect / Studio Manager to join and support the growth of our landscape architecture practice in New York City. As a Principal Landscape Architect, you will oversee a range of types and sizes of projects, including parks, plazas, streetscapes, green infrastructure, and coastal resiliency projects. NV5 is a multi-disciplinary consulting firm with a focus on shaping and improving the public realm, while supporting sustainability and resiliency goals.

Responsibilities

We are seeking experienced applicants with both design and technical skills who can effectively manage an interdisciplinary team in the execution of large complex projects. The successful applicant will also demonstrate both a desire and ability to aid in the growth of the practice by cultivating client relationships and participating in the writing of project proposals. This is an opportunity to join and help grow an already successful team.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communications skills and have experience directing and mentoring junior staff. They are a team player comfortable coordinating and collaborating with in-house professionals from allied disciplines including architects, engineers, and environmental specialists, as well as sub-consultants. The role would suit a motivated proactive individual looking to advance their career at a dynamic company that rewards those not afraid to take initiative.

Management and technical oversight of projects

• Act as a team-lead able to delegate to, motivate and mentor staff.
• As the lead management and technical person on projects, the Principal LA will actively participate in and manage projects, including strict adherence to Client schedule and budget.
• Track and manage successful financial performance on individual projects including profit margin, staff utilization rates, invoicing, and collections.
• Manage and cultivate client relationships.
• Pursue new work and prepare proposals
• Oversee design and contract document preparation.
• Work with interdisciplinary team of design and engineering professionals.
• Be familiar with typical contract requirements and industry laws around professional practice.
• Public speaking and presentations.

Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture or related field, master's degree preferred.

The pay range for this New York City position is $150k-$200k per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and / or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
