About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Estimator to support our client's engineering and manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, coordinating with sales and technical teams, and ensuring all bids meet customer and company requirements. The Estimator plays a key role in maintaining customer relationships, managing bid processes, and driving successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Sales team to establish and maintain customer relationships and identify business opportunities.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, prepare estimate packages, proposal schedules, and associated documentation.
- Conduct site measurements and reviews as required.
- Ensure all bids conform to tender documents, specifications, and company policies.
- Serve as the main liaison between the company and customers for all pre-order project matters.
- Prepare and submit bid documents in accordance with contract requirements.
- Monitor and manage contract scope, identifying and documenting changes during the bid process.
- Track and maintain bid addenda and adjust estimates as necessary.
- Manage the Sales Order Pipeline and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) reporting.
- Identify project risks early and implement mitigation strategies, escalating to management as appropriate.
- Collaborate with the Finance team to update projected cost data in the quoting system to improve margins.
Position Requirements
Education & Certifications
Post-secondary diploma or degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.Extensive experience in estimating, technical, or construction project management.5–7 years of progressive estimating or project management experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or installation environment.Knowledge of material and industry specifications (AIA, CCDC, ASTM, ASME), building codes, construction trades, and metal fabrication / installation processes.Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and ERP software is considered an asset.Company Description
