Position Overview : This full-time role offers 12-hour night shifts, totaling 72 hours per pay period, split between Labor and Delivery and on-call duties. The nurse provides direct patient care in Labor and Delivery, Recovery, and Post-Partum settings, ensuring individualized care plans and effective communication with physicians regarding patient status changes. Flexibility to assist in Acute Care, Outpatient, and Emergency Departments is also required.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist physicians with care for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients, including support during c-sections and family education on infant and self-care.
- Administer medications and maintain documentation in compliance with current standards and policies.
- Maintain professional interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Monitor fetal heart rate and uterine activity using continuous electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) and palpations, providing interventions per AWHONN and ACOG guidelines.
- Respond effectively to obstetrical emergencies and adapt to stressful situations with organization and flexibility.
- Participate in departmental projects and quality improvement initiatives.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through educational programs, literature review, in-service meetings, and workshops.
- Be available for on-call duties, able to report within 60 minutes when called.
Education
Associate degree in Nursing is required.
Licensure and Certifications
Active RN license or eligible compact license.Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications.AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification.Completion of STABLE and other mandated classes within 12 months.Experience
At least one year of recent Labor and Delivery or Newborn Nursery experience is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field is advantageous.
