Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with trauma and Epic experience for a night shift Emergency Department position in Oregon, requiring an active OR license and BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Level I Trauma Center emergency department at a teaching hospital
  • Care for adult and pediatric trauma, acute stroke, STEMI, psychological emergencies, sepsis, and complex cases
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1 : 3-4
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts, either 17 : 00–05 : 30 or 19 : 00–07 : 30
  • Weekend shifts are required
  • Float assignments may include other units within the same hospital
  • Epic used for charting; Epic experience required
  • Responsibilities include assessment, coordination, and implementation of emergency interventions, including moderate / deep sedation, ultrasound, intubation, cardioversion, D&C, sexual assault exams, CPR, and imminent deliveries
  • Must be able to effectively care for patients with alcohol / drug abuse or complex medical conditions
  • Scrubs provided; no print scrubs permitted
  • Return staff must have not worked at the facility in the past 6 months
  • Modules and online onboarding must be completed before start date
  • Maximum of 1 week of requested time off will be considered
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • First-time travelers are not accepted unless they have 1 year of travel experience and recent Epic experience
  • Requirements

  • Active OR RN license required or proof of submitted application with state board
  • Minimum 2 years recent emergency department RN experience
  • Recent Epic charting experience required
  • Trauma nursing experience required
  • Certifications : BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required; TNCC preferred
  • COVID-19 vaccination required with no exemptions
  • Two supervisor references from the past 24 months required (or from the past 3-5 years if not possible)
  • No prior background or license disciplinary actions considered
