Highway Maintenance Coordinator
Oregon Department of Transportation Delivery & Operations Division Region 4 Maintenance Crew Maupin
This position is open for recruitment and fully funded following the 2025 Special Legislative Session.
The role : Our Maupin maintenance crew needs a leader to advise and guide maintenance workers while helping to repair and maintain roadways, highways, bridges and structures. In this role, you will work closely with the maintenance manager to plan, assign and oversee work performed by the maintenance crew. Help keep Oregon's roads and travelers safe apply today!

A day in the life :
- Plan, prioritize, schedule and assign work based on availability of materials, equipment and staff resources.
- Advise and guide employees in effective performance and resolve work related issues.
- Ensure proper maintenance of equipment by scheduling repairs and services with vendors and mechanics.
- Assist the transportation maintenance manager with short- and long-range planning and budget preparation.
- Participate as a member of the district operations team which coordinates district wide resources.
- Review work of the crew and provide input to the transportation maintenance manager on employee performance.
- Patrol highways and structures looking for potential accidents, hazards and damage.
- Respond to incidents and other emergencies.
- Prepare, review and sign a variety of documents.
- Provide new employee orientation including training on the operation of heavy and light equipment and how to handle materials safely.
- Exposure to noise, extreme heights, all weather conditions, heavy equipment, pesticides and hazardous waste materials is expected.
- Must be able to move around rough terrain, bend and stoop for extended periods and may need to lift up to 60 pounds.
- May need to be available after hours, on weekends and holidays for emergency, on call and weather related purposes.

Special qualifications :
CDL-A Required : Employee will be required to use a commercial motor vehicle to conduct business. You must possess a current, valid commercial driver's license A (CDL-A) with no air brake restrictions, no 5th wheel restrictions and no manual transmission restrictions to be considered eligible for this position. You must also have or be able to obtain a tanker endorsement within 30 days of hire. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Clearinghouse registration and full query check for our final candidate(s) and annual query for current employees.What we'd like to see :
