About The Position

Job Title : Surgical Technologist

Profession : Surgical Services

Duration : 21 weeks

Shift : Day 3x12-Hour

Hours per Shift : 12

Experience : Minimum two years of scrub experience or equivalent relevant experience required.

License : Must be licensed.

Certifications : BLS must be certified through the American Heart Association only.

Must-Have :

Successfully completed a surgical technologist program or two years of experience in the Surgical Technologist role may be considered in lieu of completion of the program.

Description :

The Surgical Technologist prepares the Operating Room prior to surgery.

They promote the safety of the patient during surgery.

They provide assistance to the surgeon during surgery.

They care for the patient during surgery.

They manage the instruments and supplies used in surgery.

The Surgical Technologist functions to promote patient safety as a member of the surgical team.

The incumbent must possess knowledge and skills required to assist in effectively caring for patients of all age groups, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

Travelers may be assigned to float among various units based on current staffing needs.

Shifts will be reassigned to another department if the primary department has no need for coverage.

All travelers must comply with facility policies and procedures related to staffing and scheduling.

Weekend and weekday call may be required.

This position is located in a Magnet-designated facility considered one of the nation's leading hospitals and teaching institutions.

Preference may be given to candidates with experience in Trauma Level II facilities.

Candidates must have basic skills in aseptic technique, instrument processing, and sterilization.

Knowledge in special procedures such as HIPEC, Whipple, and laparoscopic techniques is preferred.

Candidates should be familiar with general OR expectations, including patient ratios and safety protocols.
