Diesel Mechanic

Company Overview :  Our client, a leader in the waste management industry, is seeking a skilled and reliable  Diesel Mechanic  to join their maintenance team. The company is dedicated to providing efficient waste collection services and maintaining a fleet of well-functioning vehicles is critical to their success. The Diesel Mechanic will play a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of the company’s fleet.

Job Summary :  The  Diesel Mechanic  is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. This role involves diagnosing mechanical issues, conducting routine inspections, and ensuring that all vehicles meet safety and operational standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel mechanics, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities :

• Vehicle Maintenance :  Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel-powered vehicles, including trucks and heavy equipment.
• Diagnosis :  Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues, using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify the root cause of problems.
• Repairs :  Conduct repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, electrical systems, and other vehicle components as needed.
• Preventive Maintenance :  Implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend the life of vehicles and equipment.
• Safety Compliance :  Ensure all repairs and maintenance work comply with safety regulations and company policies, maintaining accurate records of work performed.
• Parts Management :  Identify and order necessary parts for repairs, working closely with the parts department to ensure timely availability of components.
• Documentation :  Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work, including parts used, labor hours, and any issues identified.
• Collaboration :  Work closely with the Fleet Maintenance Manager and other team members to prioritize work orders and ensure vehicles are ready for use.
• Emergency Repairs :  Respond to breakdowns or urgent repair needs, providing timely and effective solutions to get vehicles back in operation.
