About The Position

Job Title : Wound Care Nurse

Hours per Shift : 8 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM

Experience : Minimum years of experience required

License : Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Arizona

Certifications : Certification as a Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (CWOCN) or Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN)

Must-Have : Must be able to obtain and retain a fingerprint clearance card issued by the Department of Public Safety

Current CPR card obtained by physical assessment

Description :

Schedule is flexible with options for 7 AM - 3 PM, 8 AM - 4 PM, or 8 AM - 5 PM.

This position requires performing wound assessments, reassessments, and management for all patients.

The nurse will develop skin care programs to prevent skin breakdown in residents.

Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for managing residents with draining wounds, fistulae, and tubes.

Involvement in wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care, and incontinence is essential.

Revise the plan of care as indicated by the resident's response to treatment and evaluate the overall plan for effectiveness.

Assess and reassess pain levels.

Utilize appropriate pain management techniques and educate residents and families regarding pain management.

Serve as a resource to nursing and other staff by providing in-services on wound prevention and care, ostomy care, and incontinence.

Communicate appropriately and clearly with the nursing staff and physicians.

Consult with other healthcare professionals as necessary to provide an interdisciplinary approach to residents' needs.

Ensure that documentation meets current standards and practices.

Attend training and continuing education classes in wound prevention and management and stay current with advances in wound care.

Experience in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care environment is preferred.
