Duration : 6-month contract (40 hours / week; 1,040 total hours)

Overview :
The Strategic Initiatives Lead partners with senior managers across the clients Commercial Bank to drive key transformation and process-improvement initiatives. This role supports large-scale, cross-functional projects aligned with divisional strategic objectives, operational efficiency, and evolving regulatory expectations.
The position focuses heavily on Syndications and Participations processes and servicing systems (e.g., AFSVision, ACBS, LoanIQ) and plays a lead role in documenting business requirements, designing future-state process flows, and developing test cases for major system implementation projects. The ideal candidate will bring both strong project leadership and hands-on commercial lending operations expertise.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead efforts to define project scope, objectives, and approach for department and cross-functional initiatives.
- Direct and monitor project resources, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of all key milestones.
- Provide analytical expertise in planning, design, and execution of transformation projects including requirements documentation, process mapping, data analysis, and governance reporting.
- Collaborate with senior management, business sponsors, and technology teams to ensure alignment between operational needs and solution design.
- Lead documentation of business requirements, process flows, and test cases to guide development and implementation.
- Contribute to the analysis and optimization of data structures supporting Syndications and Participations operations.
- Facilitate stakeholder discussions, address challenges, and develop actionable solutions that meet business and regulatory goals.
- Mentor or oversee team members, ensuring quality, consistency, and adherence to project standards.
- Present findings, recommendations, and project updates to management and governance committees.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory and process-control requirements impacting commercial lending operations.
- Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with internal control, risk, and compliance standards.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelors degree and a minimum of 7 years of relevant business or project management experience , including leadership of cross-functional teams; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Proven experience leading large-scale business transformation or system migration projects.Strong knowledge of Syndications and Participations servicing systems (AFSVision, ACBS, LoanIQ, or comparable).Demonstrated expertise in business requirements documentation, process mapping, and test case development.Excellent analytical, facilitation, and communication skills with the ability to interface across all organizational levels.Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Qualifications :
Prior banking or commercial lending operations experience , particularly in Servicing, Loan Operations, or related functions.Direct experience supporting AFSVision or similar commercial loan servicing platforms.Knowledge of commercial banking workflows, data structures, and servicing lifecycle.Familiarity with regulatory expectations for large financial institutions.Prior experience leading teams of 1020 professionals across functional areas.Additional Information :
This role is onsite in Buffalo, NY , where the project team is based.Candidates within the client footprint (e.g., Wilmington, DE; Baltimore, MD; Burlington, VT; New York City / NJ) may be considered on a case-by-case basis.Non-Buffalo candidates must be able to travel to Buffalo periodically (at least once per quarter) for key project activities and workshops.The client is seeking candidates within the mid-range of the established pay band; over-range submissions will not be entertained.
