Police Officer Position
This is a direct hire position with the hire step plan being between step 3 and step 10 depending on experience. Performs senior-level (highly complex) work. Work involves responding to routine traffic complaints and calls for service, investigating as needed to assist in the protection of the city's residents and property; enforcement of laws and ordinances and following department's policies and procedures applicable to span of control while preserving, protecting, and defending the Constitution of the United States of America. Works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Required education and experience : Two years of experience in a patrol officer capacity and at least one year of experience as a dedicated traffic enforcement officer.
Required certificate and licenses : Valid Texas Class C driver's license or equivalent from any US State. Currently a licensed peace officer with a TCOLE license at an intermediate certificate level. If from out of state, already have obtained a TCOLE license, and is eligible for intermediate certificate upon completion of required courses.
Preferred education, experience, certifications, and licenses : Three years or more of experience as a dedicated traffic enforcement officer. Intermediate Collision Reconstruction. Advanced Collision Reconstruction. Collision Reconstruction Certificate. NHTSA SFST Certification.
