Job Summary :
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Med Surg Neuro unit provides skilled nursing care to patients, focusing on neurological and post-surgical cases. Responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, administering medications, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The RN will work night shifts and must be proficient in telemetry, emergency response, and various medical procedures.

Responsibilities :
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to Med Surg Neuro patients.
- Monitor patient conditions using telemetry and respond to emergencies.
- Administer medications, including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA.
- Perform wound care and manage surgical drains.
- Manage respiratory cases, including chest tubes, CPAP / BiPAP, and tracheostomy care.
- Perform IV therapy and phlebotomy, including accessing ports and administering blood products.
- Provide care for patients with neurological conditions such as CVA, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team and document patient care in Cerner.
- Float within scope to meet facility needs.
Required Skills & Certifications :
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.Minimum of 2 years of Med / Surg experience.BLS certification.NIHSS certification.Telemetry and emergency response skills.Experience with colostomy care and feeding tube management.Proficiency in accessing ports, blood product administration, and central / PICC line management.Experience with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medications.Knowledge of CVA, pre / post neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injury care.Experience with chest tubes, CPAP / BiPAP, and tracheostomy management.Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care.Continuous Bladder Irrigation experience.Cerner experience.Preferred Skills & Certifications :
Teaching Hospital Experience.Trauma Level II Experience.Special Considerations :
Will work every other weekend.No on-call requirement.Must be able to float within scope to meet facility needs.RTO restrictions : Ideally no more than 5 days.Scheduling :
4x12 or 3x12 Night shifts (1800-0630).Schedule requests can be discussed with the manager.
