Job description

Job Title : Claims Supervisor - Workers' Compensation

Location : Ontario, CA (Hybrid - 2 days / week onsite; first 3 days onsite for training)

Employment Type : Full-time, Direct Hire

Position Summary :

We are seeking an experienced and certified Workers' Compensation Claims Supervisor to join our team in Ontario, CA. This role is responsible for overseeing complex and high-exposure workers' compensation claims, ensuring compliance with California regulations, and mentoring a team of examiners. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of California WC claims experience and hold a valid SIP certification.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Analyze and manage complex or technically challenging workers' compensation claims.
  • Develop and execute action plans to ensure timely and appropriate claim resolution.
  • Approve and negotiate settlements within designated authority.
  • Assign and manage reserves; ensure reserve adequacy throughout claim lifecycle.
  • Authorize and process benefit payments and adjustments.
  • Ensure timely and accurate state filings.
  • Oversee litigation processes and coordinate with legal and investigative vendors.
  • Apply cost containment strategies to reduce overall claim costs.
  • Manage claim recoveries including subrogation and excess recoveries.
  • Maintain professional communication with claimants and clients.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and coding of claim files.
  • Refer cases to management as needed per client service instructions.

Additional Responsibilities :

  • Support organizational quality initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Travel as required.
  • Qualifications :

    Education & Licensing :

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • SIP Certification required.
  • Professional certifications relevant to workers' compensation are a plus.
  • Experience :

  • Minimum of 5 years of workers' compensation claims management experience in California.
  • Skills & Knowledge :

  • In-depth knowledge of California workers' compensation laws and best practices.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and claims management systems.
  • Ability to lead and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to meeting or exceeding service expectations.
