Certified Medical Assistant
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant to support our Pre-operative, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nurses and surgical team in the Operating Room (OR). This position plays a key role in maintaining smooth clinical workflows by assisting with patient care, preparing surgical environments, and supporting the nursing and surgical staff before, during, and after procedures.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist with pre-operative preparation, testing, and documentation.
- Support OR teams by preparing rooms, gathering necessary instruments and supplies, and ensuring surgical areas are clean and stocked.
- Transport patients safely to and from pre-op, OR, and PACU.
- Assist PACU nurses with patient monitoring, comfort, and post-operative care.
- Provide clerical support such as documenting patient vitals, updating charts, and assisting with supply ordering.
- Monitor inventory of medical supplies and assist in restocking as needed.
- Clean and disinfect non-sterile equipment and work areas according to infection control standards.
- Serve as a communication liaison between nursing staff, surgeons, and other departments as directed.
- Assist with dressing changes, positioning patients, and other delegated clinical tasks within scope of certification.
- Provide patient-centered care in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Must be able to lift / carry 50lbs.
- Assist SPD with routine cleaning and sterilization of instruments and supplies.
- Oversee and ensure equipment safety compliance
- Conduct and uphold routine equipment safety inspections
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent required.Graduate of a Medical Assistant training program.Current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) Required.Current BLS certification is strongly preferred.Previous experience in a surgical or outpatient surgery center setting is strongly preferred.Skills and Abilities :
