Business Data Specialist

Morgan Stanley Private Bank, NA is seeking a high potential candidate to work in the Tailored Lending ("TL") product group's COO team to assist in managing the continued build out of the TL business and its role as First Line of Defense.

The Tailored Lending ("TL") Group within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Private Banking Group is seeking a Business Data Specialist to help grow and manage our Ultra High New Worth ("UHNW") lending portfolio serving UHNW clients (generally clients with a minimum net worth of at least $50 million). TL transactions include primarily collateralized custom lending solutions, available in the form of both revolving lines of credit and term loans, that can be structured as demand or committed forms of financing.

The position will be based in Purchase, New York and will support the UHNW Lending team throughout the US. This position is part of Morgan Stanley's hybrid working model, which includes both an in-office and at-home work arrangement.

Job Description / Position Responsibilities

The Business Data Specialist will be responsible for the following :

  • Working closely with Senior Management to develop business related reports, presentations and management decks required for board and committee meetings
  • Manipulating large data sets to extract and report on portfolio analyses and business trends on a periodic basis (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly)
  • Producing monthly Portfolio reporting materials for 1LOD / 2LOD senior management meeting, including covenant monitoring and annual reviews
  • Assisting with quarterly Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) regulatory reporting submission, which is critical to the Firm's use and governance of capital under economic stress.
  • Partnering with analytics peers within US Banks and Wealth Management researching new technologies and automation tools to elevate business performance
  • Liaising with Technology, Operations, Credit Risk, and Finance on business processes and key initiatives to further refine systemic reporting activities
  • Assisting with daily operating activities including (1) Verifying and attesting to credit facility compliance with regulations, including Regulation O, U, V, and W, (2) Reviewing loan documentation for completeness, (3) Verifying credit facility files including a credit facility closing checklist, regulation attestations, pricing approvals, business escalation approvals, credit facility documents, etc.
  • Spearheading automations and enhancements to existing processes to reduce tedious tasks for both the Analytics team and broader business
  • Assist with various daily, monthly and quarterly business reporting activities
  • Maintaining policies and procedures and ensure business continuity for aforementioned responsibilities, conduct training and communications of updates as necessary

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years prior banking, lending, finance, reporting, and / or business management experience preferred
  • Skills / Abilities

  • Detail orientation with strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient MS Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills, with ability to multi-task and efficiently complete assignments within tight deadlines
  • Comfortable with manipulating large datasets and telling the "story"
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with many levels and functional areas within and outside the organization
  • Experience with Dataiku and Alteryx platforms is a plus
  • Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $85,000 and $140,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
