An employee in this position is considered a valuable member of a team and provides support to Civil Division Court staff. Duties are performed following well-established procedures, including processing legal documents, with or without close supervision. Work is performed under the immediate supervision of the office manager and assistant manager.
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Marginal functions include answering the telephone daily, providing general information pertaining to assigned function, replenishing computer printer, copier, or fax machine paper supplies, and performing other duties as assigned.
The environmental conditions include standard courtroom and office conditions, as well as contact via telephone, email, and in-person with diverse court users daily.
Competencies, knowledge, skills, and abilities include general knowledge of court system purpose and record keeping processes, ability to write legibly, ability to provide information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, ability to recognize different types of civil documents and legal instruments, ability to learn to extract and summarize information from legal instruments, ability to learn and comply with applicable rules, regulations, and procedures, and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and the general public.
High school diploma or equivalent and one to two years of progressively responsible clerical experience processing legal instruments and documents, or equivalent combinations of training and experience, successful completion of a criminal background investigation, ability to perform the essential functions of a position in this class, and must work on site (not remote).
